Empowering individuals, families, community organizations, and public & private through a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, therapeutic framework.
Poetic Therapy is a unique approach blending Narrative Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Culturally Appropriate (CA CBT). It uses poetry alongside trauma-informed, culturally sensitive techniques to support each client’s specific needs.
Through poetry, storytelling, and metaphors, clients gain insights, release emotions, and find comfort as they create and share their own stories with the compassionate support of their therapist.
This therapy creates a safe, welcoming space where clients are encouraged to be their authentic selves, focusing on rapport-building, creative activities, positive affirmations, and personalized coping strategies.
Poetic Therapy combines the art of poetry with evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive techniques. Our Philosophies and Pedagogy are client-centred and purposefully curated to support the needs of each client we serve and support.
Poetic Therapy allows clients to express emotions through various art forms; writing, painting, dance, music, photography, and more. Encouraging them to find their voice and explore their identity. By engaging in creative expression, clients can process their experiences, understand the roots of their trauma, and work through personal challenges.
Poetic Therapy engages in the practice of positively affirming the experiences of our clients and creating a nourishing wholesome environment, and creative space for clients to show up as their most authentic selves during our interactions.
